    Silao Plant Family Day

In celebration of the National Mexican holiday, Día del Niño or “Child’s Day”, the Silao Autovation team hosted a Family Day event. More than 85 attended the all-morning inaugural event at the end of April. Family Day supports Milliken’s mission to ‘Do Good’ helping to build a stronger connection with the plant as a team and work family.

The Silao associates had the opportunity to show their families what they do everyday when they come to work at a Nonwovens manufacturing facility. A safety training was held followed by a plant tour that showcased some our innovative manufacturing processes.

Afterwards, outside of the plant, it was time for fun and fellowship. Families enjoyed food, games, music and crafts together with the focus of the rest of the day on celebrating the children.

Since 1925, Día del Niño has been celebrated annually in Mexico and is dedicated to reaffirming the rights of children in addition to recognizing their importance in our lives today and as the future of society.

Autovation Teams Up with Tier 1 & OEM for Acoustic Testing

The Milliken Autovation team recently participated in extensive vehicle testing of our MaxQuiet™ technology that reduces tire and road noise. A Tier 1 automotive supplier and OEM joined Milliken at Michelin Proving Grounds to explore how different combinations of exterior trim parts and materials impact cabin noise levels.

Six microphones were used to measure the sound levels both inside and outside of the vehicle for the acoustical tests while being driven approximately 750 miles on the track. There were more than 30 material/part configurations of seven exterior parts made from five different moldable nonwoven composites to identify the most effective treatment options.

All of the miles and configurations later, the several days of testing were a success. With this data we were able to more effectively optimize the material selections for our customer’s components.
